Alicia Vikander

 Alicia Vikander, a Swedish dancer and actress and producer. She was born and was raised in Gothenburg, Vastra Gotalands lan, Sweden, to Maria Fahl who was an actress for screen and stage, and Svante Vikander, a psychiatrist. The actress is half Finnish by her mother. Her maternal great aunt who fled during World War II to relocate from Finland to Sweden, was also her maternal great aunt. Alicia started acting at age five in small stage productions at the Goteborg Opera. She was trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Swedish Ballet School, Stockholm as well as at the School of American Ballet, New York. She began her professional acting career through appearances in Swedish short films and TV series. She first gained recognition within Northern Europe for her role as Josefin Bjorn-Tegebrandt in the TV drama Second Avenue (2007). Vikander made her feature film debut in Pure (2009) which was for which she received the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress. The actress gained a lot of attention in 2012 for portraying the role of Princess Ekaterina "Kitty" Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya in Joe Wright's film adaptation of Anna Karenina (2012), and Queen Caroline Mathilde in the acclaimed Danish film A Royal Affair (2012) and receiving a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination for her first major role. In 2013, she appeared in Hotel, a Swedish drama film. She also appeared in The Fifth Estate (2013) the biopic about Julian Assange. In 2014 and in 2015, Vikander achieved global recognition and acclaim for her roles as the activist Vera Brittain in Testament of Youth (2014) as well as an AI in Ex Machina (2014), for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress as well as painter Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl (2015), for which she received the Academy Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress.
