Alicia Silverstone was the youngest of three siblings and was born in San Francisco, California on October 4, 1976. She is the daughter of Monty Silverstone (a real estate investor) and Didi (Radford) who is an ex-flight attendant. Her English-born father is from an ethnically Jewish family, and her Scottish-born mother changed her religion to Judaism. Her journey started when her father started taking pictures of her child at six years old. This led to several TV commercials. After appearing in The Wonder Years (1988) as a literal "dream girl" then she went on to movies. She was cast in The Crush (1993), which is a remake of Fatal Attraction (1987), in which she played a young lady who is in love with an older male. The nasty little role didn't impress the critics establishment but it wowed its intended audience of teenagers. The role won her the 1994 MTV Movie Award for Best Villain and Breakthrough Performance. It's interesting to note that Alicia was an emancipated child during filming to avoid any limitations on her working hours. She was a dedicated actor from the start on.The film also attracted the attention of Aerosmith, who hired her to be a part of several of music videos.
