Cate Blanchett

 Cate Blanchett was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on May 14, 1969 until June (Gamble) She is an Australian teacher, property developer, and Robert DeWitt Blanchett, Jr., an American advertising executive born in Texas. Her older brother is as well as a younger sister. Her father, who was 40 years old, died suddenly from a heart attack when she was 10 years old. Her mother never remarried and her grandmother came in to assist her mother.Cate was a graduate of the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992 and, in just a few months she was able to win both popular and critical acclaim. After graduation from NIDA she was cast in Sydney Theatre Company's production of Caryl Churchill's "Top Girls". She was then cast as Felice Bauer, who was Felice's bride, in Tim Daly’s "Kafka Dances," which won her the 1993 Sydney Theatre Critics Circle Newcomer Award. Blanchett then moved on to portray the character of Carol in David Mamet's powerful political play "Oleanna
