He was born to Mary Louise (Bryant), and Norris Tucker (who owned a Janitorial business). After graduating from high school, Tucker changed his plans to relocate to Hollywood from Georgia to pursue a career in show business. He was often appearing on Def Comedy Jam (1992). Tucker was known for performing exceptionally "clean" and non-sexy stand-up comedy routines. Tucker claimed that his comedy influences were Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor.
