 DJ Envy Biography by Jason BirchmeierThe Desert Storm Mixtape: DJ Envy - Blok Party, Vol. 1 DJ Envy is an internationally-known radio and television personality as well as a long-time mixtape distributor and producer. Mentored by his fellow Queens native DJ Clue?, he released numerous mixtapes, and made his commercial debut in 2003 with The Desert Storm Mixtape: DJ Envy - Blok Party, Vol. 1. He became a staple of New York hip-hop radio, and then he expanded his reach after his highly rated morning show, The Breakfast Club, was syndicated via satellite and terrestrial radio.Born RaaShaun Casey, DJ Envy began to mix after meeting DJ Clue? in the 1990s, he began to mix in. Frequently putting out mixtapes, Envy climbed the ranks quickly, and by the time the 2000s began, Envy was peddling the latest exclusives and freestyles by big-name rappers like Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and the LOX. His production work was featured on albums like Fabolous' Ghetto Fabolous, and Foxy Brown's Broken Silence. His first commercial album, The Desert Storm Mixtape - DJ Envy Blok Party, Vol. 1. was released by DJ Clue? 's Desert Storm label in 2003; the album reached number 57 on the Billboard 200. The Co-Op together with New York rapper Red Cafe came out in 2007.
