Dua Lipa

 Dua Lipa, the English singer, songwriter and model is Dua Lipa. At the age of 14, she began covering YouTube videos of other artists' music. In the year 2015, she signed with Warner Music Group and released her first single shortly after. In December 2016 an documentary on Lipa was requested by The Fader magazine, titled See in Blue. Lipa was awarded the EBBA Public Choice Award in January 2017. Lipa's self-titled debut studio album, was released on June 2nd, 2017. Seven singles were released from the album, including UK's top 10 singles "Be The One" and "Idgaf" and the number-one UK single "New Rules" which climbed to number six in the US. In the year 2018 Lipa was awarded two Brit Awards for British Female Solo Artist as well as British Breakthrough Act.Lipa was born in London in the UK, to Albanian parents from Kosovo who had left Pristina in the 1990s. Part-time, she was a student at Sylvia Young Theatre School before making the move to Kosovo in 2008 with her family. Lipa was a child who listened to her father's music, singer Dukagjin Lipa. Her name translates to "love" in Albanian The unusual nature of the name was cause for distaste in her early years, but she grew to "enjoy" it as it eliminated the need for the stage name.
