George Timothy Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky, to Nina Bruce (nee Warren) an ex-beauty pageant queen, as well as Nick Clooney, a former anchorman and a television anchorman (who was also the brother of singer Rosemary Clooney). Clooney is of German, English, and Irish origin. Clooney was born in Ohio and Kentucky and went to Augusta High School. Clooney was involved in sports such as baseball and basketball. He was offered a role in the film of Miguel Ferrer. Clooney then began to contemplate acting. His first major role was in the sitcom E/R (1984) as Ace. There were more roles to come such as George Burnett as Ace, the handsome handyman from The Facts of Life (1979); Booker Brooks as a supervisor in Roseanne (1988) and Detective James Falconer in Sisters (1991). Clooney made his breakthrough in 1994 when he was cast in a role opposite Anthony Edwards and Julianna Margulies as Dr. Doug Ross in the drama series ER (1994).
