From inventing women's MMA to setting a new standard in the world of film, GINA CARANO is one of the most distinctive emerging stars. Carano began her training in Muay Thai to the world of competitive MMA which she participated in with Strikeforce as well as EliteXC. Her popularity resulted in her being called the "Face of women's MMA" and she was the most-searched Google search Google and the third-highest-searched user on Yahoo and ranked 5th in the list of the "Top 10 Influential Women" of 2008. Carano fought Cris Cyborg at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg in August 2009. It was the first time that two women had headlined an important MMA show. The fight was also the most highly-rated Showtime fight ever. Carano has a professional record of 12-1-1 in Muay Thai and a 7-1 record in women's MMA. Carano also served as a mentor for the next generation of fighters on Oxygen's 2007 Oxygen reality show Fight Girls. She also played the role of 'Crush" in American Gladiators' before her breakthrough performance in Steven Soderbergh’s film HAYWIRE. She was able to hold her herself against Channing Tatum and Bill Paxton. Gina's genuineness and ability to make Action seem real made her a Critics Choice Award nomination for the Best Actress in an Action Film.
