Joan Blondell is a blonde actress with large blue eyes, a huge smile, and big hair. Her father was an Polish Jewish immigrant and her mother was Irish. Joan performed on the stage as a child at the age of three. She toured the world for a number of years with her parents, and she joined a stock company at the age of 17. When Warner Brothers decided to make the film version of the play, Sinners' Holiday (1930), she was already in Broadway with the Ziegfeld Follies. Joan and Cagney were given the lead roles in the film which was a huge success. She would be teamed with Cagney once more in The Public Enemy (1931) and Blonde Crazy (1931) among others. In The Office Wife (1930) she stole the show when she was dressing for work. Cagney was a popular actress for Warner Brothers, but Joan did not reach that height.
