Jordan Ross Belfort, an American motivational speaker and writer and former stockbroker. Born in New York, Belfort was blessed with the talent of a good salesman even at an early age. He started out as a stockbroker. He made millions of dollars using illegal ways in the 90s through 'Stratton' Oakmont,' an investment company which he owned. Not able to stand up to the pressure exerted upon him by the law-enforcement agencies, Jordan pleaded guilty for fraud against investors as well as other offenses related to the manipulation of stock market. Jordan was also found guilty of running a boiler room in the "penny stock scheme." He was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment. As part of an agreement, he gave evidence against several of his subordinates as well as associates who were involved in his fraudulent schemes. Belfort has since altered his ways and delivers several motivational speeches. His initial speeches were focused on motivation and ethics. However, he changed his focus towards entrepreneurship and sales abilities. In his speeches, he stresses that ethics play an essential role in running a successful company and how to avoid the mistakes occurred in his professional career as an agent.
