Julie Benz was born May 1st 1972 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA. Julie's father is a Pittsburgh surgeon, while her mother is figure skater. The family moved to nearby Murrysville in the year Julie was just two years old, and she started ice skating at age three. She competed in the 1988 U.S. Championships in junior ice dancing with her partner David Schilling, coming in 13th. Jeffrey, her older brother, and Jennifer both participated participants in the 1987 U.S. Championships for junior ice dancing. She was the Junior Champion in ice dancing and competed internationally. When Julie was 14years old, she had a bad strain fracture, and was forced to take time off.By 1989, with her figure skating career over, Julie turned to acting and became involved in local theater, and was given an appearance in the play "Street Law". Her first film role came as a speaker in the Black Cat episode of the Dario Argentoand George A. Romero horror flick, Two evil Eyes (1990), in which she played in a scene alongside Harvey Keitel. A year later she was offered a part on a show on TV named Hi Honey, I'm Home (1991).
