Maggie Lawson was born and was raised in Louisville, Kentucky. At the age of eight when she started appearing in local community and dinner theater productions. By the age of 10, she earned an on-air commercial position at a Louisville television station. This soon led to a steady six-year stint as a television personality who filed news stories targeted at her peers. She relocated to Los Angeles at 17 for her first TV appearance, a recurring part in the movie Unhappily Ever After (1995). She finished her senior year in high school with the help of a correspondence class. She was both a model, and a geeky student in The Wonderful World of Disney: Model Behavior (2000). She is a singer and songwriter in her free time.
