Marilyn's biological father was identified through DNA tests to be Charles Stanley Gifford, who was born in Newport, Rhode Island, to a family that had deep roots within the state. Gladys was a foster mother had placed Marilyn in the care of The Bolenders because Gladys was unable financially and mentally to take care of her.
