Martin Scorsese

 Martin Charles Scorsese was a New York City native, born to Catherine Scorsese (nee Cappa), and Charles Scorsese. They both were employed in Manhattan's garment district and both families came from Palermo in Sicily. His childhood was in Little Italy, where he later found inspiration for many of his movies. Scorsese obtained his B.S. In 1964 Scorsese earned the B.S. in film communication, then an M.A. in the same field in 1966. in 1966. He was a graduate of the New York University's School of Film. In that time, he made numerous short films, which won prizes, such as The Big Shave (1967) and directed his debut feature film, Who's That knocking on My Door (1967).He served as an assistant director as well as editor for the documentary Woodstock (1970) and was awarded critical and popular acclaim for Mean Streets (1973), which first paired him with actor and frequent collaborator Robert De Niro. In 1976,
