The woman who is often called hip-hop's original lady was Dana Elaine Owens, born on March 18, 1970, in East Orange, New Jersey. She is the daughter of Rita (Bray), who works as a teacher as is Lancelot Owens, Sr. His father was a cop , and her brother was a cop. This would influence her rhyming style. Her brother died from a motorcycle crash in the year 1992. Owens was exposed to both sides of urban black life in the USA during her growing years. She started her career as an employee of Burger King employee and soon became a superstar in hip-hop. When she was just 18 years old, old, she made waves with her distinct style which was heavily influenced by reggae, jazz and soul styles. Mark the 45 King.
