Selena Quintanilla recorded her debut album in the 80s. She would later be a multi-award winning recording artist in Latin music with albums such as Selena Live and Amor Prohibido. Her assassination was attributed to the founder of her fan club in 1995. The last album she released, Dreaming of You, was released after her death in 1995.Selena was born on the 16th of April 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. Abraham Quintanilla was Selena's dad. Selena's father Abraham Quintanilla was a former musician. He also managed and produced Selena Y Los Dinos, the family band. Selena grew up in English however her father taught her Spanish in order to help her communicate with the Latino community. She learned how to sing the lyrics phonetically initially, but eventually began to speak Spanish fluently. As a young girl she began singing in a group. The musical group started out playing weddings and clubs in their native Texas. Abraham, her brother Abraham played bass guitar, and her sibling Suzette played drums.
