Yvonne Craig

 Yvonne Joyce Craig was conceived in Taylorville, Illinois on May 16, 1937. At the age of a young teen, Yvonne showed such promise as dancer that she was invited by Denham's Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. The training continued until she left the company in the year 1957 because of a disagreement on casting changes. She moved to Los Angeles hoping to continue her dancing, however, she was soon hired in movies. Yvonne was initially cast in small parts in films such as Gidget (1959) and The Gene Krupa Story (59). Then her film career bumped along. Because Yvonne was dating Elvis Presley at the time and she was an appearance in two Elvis films, It Happened at the World's Fair (1963) and Kissin' Cousins (1964).But her fame would come through the cult TV show Batman (1966) where she played Commissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara. She played the role of Batgirl, and she had full access to the Commissioner's Gotham City troubles. The 1967-68 season saw the finale of the show's period. Batgirl was her character. She also appeared in Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) as well as The Six Million Dollar Man (1974). Yvonne was a real estate agent in the business after her career had ended. Yvonne Craig died at age 78 , of breast cancer, at her home in Pacific Palisades, California on 17 August in 2015.
