William Bret Baier, /'bret/beI@r/BRET BAY-@r [1] was born August 4 in 1970. He is currently the presenter of Special Report with Bret Baier, and the chief political correspondent for Fox. Before being hired by Fox, he was the chief White House Correspondent, and Pentagon correspondent. Baier went on to attend the methodist DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana where he graduated in 1992 with a BA degree in political sciences and English. He was a member the Xi Chapter, Sigma Chi fraternity at DePauw University. Baier started his television career with Hilton Head Island's WJWJ TV16, South Carolina. Then , he joined WRAL TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. He submitted an audition tape to Fox News in 1998, and was appointed the network's Atlanta bureau chief. On September 11th 2001, he drove from Georgia to Arlington, Virginia, to report on the terrorist attack on the Pentagon. In lieu of going back to Atlanta He was chosen to become the network's Pentagon reporter. He was at the post for five more years, making 11 trips to Afghanistan and 13 trips to other places.
