Julie Etchingham

 Julie Anne Etchingham, born 21 August 1969, is an English journalist and television newsreader for ITV News. A graduate of Newnham College, Cambridge, Etchingham began working for the BBC as a trainee following finishing her studies. She went on to present the children's news programme Newsround in 1994. After finishing her studies at Newnham College, Cambridge, Etchingham joined Sky News as trainee in 2002. She also hosted editions for Five News when Sky was awarded the contract to produce news programming for Channel 5. In 2005, Sky acquired news programming for Channel 5 and Etchingham has been a newscaster for ITV News at Ten since 2008. She also hosted the current affairs programme Tonight from 2010 to 2022 when she announced she would present on the program. She was awarded "Presenter of the Year" at the Royal Television Society journalism awards in 2010 as well as 2016.Etchingham was born and was raised in Leicester, Leicestershire, where both her parents worked as teachers. Her family was an Roman Catholic, and educated at the city's English Martyrs Catholic School.After school, she attended Newnham College at the University of Cambridge where she gained an undergraduate BA (Honours) degree in English. She was the first girl from the school to be admitted to Cambridge as a student, and during her time of reading English there , she was instructed by Germaine Greer. She was also a co-presenter on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire's student program On the Edge, produced by Ian Peacock. While in high school, she got her first job as a journalist at BBC Radio Leicester and then was accepted into the BBC graduate program.
