Netflix YA drama The Society left fans crying out for more following the dramatic season finale, which revealed what had happened to the youths from West Ham. Netflix has confirmed the second season of The Society will be cancelled. The Netflix statement reads: "We have made the difficult decision to not continue with The Society and I Am NOT Okay With This. These decisions were caused by COVID's situation. We're devastated. "A source said to The Hollywood Reporter that despite being content with how the shows did, the "uncertainty" over the air dates, "unexpected budget increases" due to the epidemic, and the complications of managing a large cast were obstacles that proved too big to overcome. "We spent the last bunch of months getting ready to go back and dealing with COVID protocol issues," showrunner Chris Keyser told Variety. "And then I received a call from Netflix declaring that they had made this choice.' It was quite upsetting and sudden. ""We were dealing with Netflix and the growth in the budget , and everything else like that stuff," Keyser said. "There were constant conversations We knew there were challenges for this."
