Mary-Louise Parker

Mary-Louise Parker was born August 2 1964. She is an American actress. After making her Broadway debut as Rita in Craig Lucas' Prelude to a Kiss in 1990 (for which she was awarded a Tony Award nomination), Parker gained notoriety for film roles in Grand Canyon (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), The Client (1994), Bullets over Broadway (1994), A Place for Annie (1994), Boys on the Side (1995), The Portrait of a Lady (1996) as well as The Maker (1997). Parker won the 2001 Tony Award as Best Actress in an Independent Play for her role in David Auburn's Proof of Catherine Llewellyn. She was a part of Amy Gardner on NBC's television series The West Wing from 2001 until the year 2006. For this role, she was nominated in 2002 for the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Supporting Actress In the Drama Series. She won both a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance of Harper Pitt in the acclaimed HBO television miniseries Angels in America in 2003.Parker went on to enjoy large success in her role as Nancy Botwin, the lead character in the tv series Weeds which ran from 2005 to 2012 and for which she was nominated for three times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series between 2007 and 2009 and received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2006.
