Luke was born in September of 1985. His mother was raised in Romford. Luke describes himself as an extremely proud Essex boy. Luke was qualified to audition for the National Youth Theatre and later attended the Central School of Speech and Drama where he received the Alan Bates Bursary. After graduation, he began building a formidable stage C.V., including the part of the lead actor in Tennessee Williams' 'Orpheus Descending' at the Manchester Royal Exchange, and in 'A View from the Bridge' and 'Blue/Orange' at the Young Vic. Luke is also a highly regarded playwright - in fact he began writing in his teens to be an alternative in case the script didn't work out acting. His plays 'Goodbye To All That', 'So Here We Are', and Growth' received rave reviews at Edinburgh Fringe. Hearts' was performed at Sheffield Crucible, the Shed at the National and 'Growth' at the National. In 2016, he is also an Bush Theatre commissionee. The actor can be seen as the character Dr Dwight Enys, an idealistic but flawed character in the second series of 'Poldark. He is married to actress Joanna Horton (born April 1980) who he saw when they appeared in the Royal Shakespeare Company's 'Days of Significance' and whom he runs the business Norton Productions, they have a daughter Albie.
