Maria Teresa Kumar

 As an Emmy nominated candidate for political and voting rights activist, Maria Teresa Kumar has dedicated her career to fighting for an inclusive and democratic participation. Rosario Dawson, actress Rosario Kumar, and she co-founded Voto Latino which is a non-profit organization which utilizes technology and media to encourage young Latinx voters. Voto Latino, under her leadership, has registered more than quarter of a million voters. It also is the founding partner of National Voter Registration Day. Maria Teresa Kumar was born in Bogota in 1974. Kumar, who was only five years old, moved to the United States from Colombia. She was raised in Sonoma County. However, she spent most of her summers back in Columbia. Kumar was able to recognize her passion for political activism at an early age.
