He then started making popular mix tapes. A controversial but well-known character within the Gangsta rap genre 50 Cent's history of criminality has been a topic of discussion for many. He was a troubled child as a child in Queens. He began selling drugs at a very young age. In the year 2000, he got shot nine times but managed to escape. 50 Cent took the incident as a lesson for the future and began to focus on his career in music. The first single he released "Get Rich or die trying' was a huge hit, and was certified platinum 8x by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Eminem is the reason 50 Cent is able to achieve his fame.
