Charlize Theron

 Charlize Theron was sole child of Charles Theron and Gerda Theron (nee Maritz). She was born in Benoni in South Africa. Theron was raised on a farm located in the suburbs of Johannesburg. Theron is of Afrikaner (Dutch, with some French Huguenot and German) descent, and Afrikaner military figure Danie Theron was her great-great-uncle.Theron received an education as a ballet dancer and has danced both the "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker". It was hard to get work as a dancer or actress in South Africa. She soon moved to the United States and took a position at the Joffrey Ballet. She also worked as an model for photographs. However, a knee injury put a halt to her dance career.
