Danica Patrick is a retired professional race car driver. She quit high school to pursue the career of driver of race cars, and then in 2002, she signed with Rahal Letterman Racing. In 2005, Patrick became the first woman to hold the lead in the Indianapolis 500. She was the first woman to be the winner of the IndyCar circuit three years later. Patrick made the switch to stock cars, and won the Daytona 500 time trials, becoming the first woman ever to be the first woman to win the pole in this NASCAR race. After her decision to retire from racing in the year of 2018, she began hosting the Pretty Intense weekly podcast.Born Danica Sue Patrick on March 25, 1982, in Beloit, Wisconsin, Patrick began racing go-karts with her sister when she was 10, and then dropped out of high school to pursue a racing career in England. It was in England that she was second at the Formula Ford Festival, the highest-ever finish by either female or American in the event.In 2002, Patrick signed with Rahal Letterman Racing which was then owned by former driver Bobby Rahal and talk show host David Letterman. In the following two years Patrick had moderate success, and was a consistent finisher on the podium, but never finished a race.
