Dennis Quaid is an American actor and musician who is famous for his dramatic and comedic roles in movies and on television. He is the younger brother of actor Randy Quaid. He has appeared in numerous films such as 'Breaking away, The Rookie, Vantage Point and 'The Parent Trap', and "Far from Heaven. Quaid has also appeared on several TV programs, the most prominent one is the period drama 'Vegas' in which he also served as the executive producer. Quaid is also a musician who performs in the group "The Sharks". Quaid is famous for his lyrics and performing a song titled "Closer to You" in the 1987 flick 'The Big Easy'. He was born to William Rudy Quaid, an electrician, as well as Juanita B. The actress was born in Houston, Texas to his brother Randy and Nita Quaid. He attended Bellaire High School, where he studied Mandarin Chinese and dance. Quaid enrolled at University of Houston, but was unable to finish his studies before graduating. He is very generous and has raised money for charity many times. He has been involved with the New Orleans-based International Hospital for Children. In the 90s the actor took many trips to Central America to help develop medical clinics and transport sick kids back to the USA to receive the necessary care.
