Lil Boosie was born Torrence Hatch in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on November 14, 1983, he was bestowed the nickname Boosie by his parents and was raised on W. Garfield St. in a ghetto in the mean streets of south side Baton Rouge (SSB).Growing up, Boosie was hardened by the numerous difficult experiences the he endured. The neighborhood he lived in was well-known for its drug and violence. It was a dangerous place for people from outside, but a paradise for residents. Boosie became very interested in basketball to keep him off the streets. His father had been killed over drugs and Boosie moved to live with his grandmother. Boosie had no father figure and was unable to be guided by a family member. He turned to crime and drug use. After being expelled from school, Boosie picked up freestyling and then began to think seriously about his music. Boosie lived in the 225 and had no contacts nor any real exposure.
