Ja Rule was the star of producer Irv Gulti's Murder Inc. label. He collaborated closely with the producer who made a splash as well as his group of talented artists to make him a prominent performer in the rap music industry. Born Jeffrey Atkins in Queens, New York on February 29, 1976. Ja Rule was established through Venni Vecci (1999), an album with a hardcore sound that closely resembles the rough thug style that was popularized by DMX (and the Ruff Ryder collective). Rule 3:36 (2000) was his third album. Ja Rule began collaborating with female R&B singers and a series of radio-friendly tracks led to ("Between Me And You", "Put It on Me", "I Cry". Pain Is Love (2001) follows the same format, offering a few songs that were a mix of rap and R&B ("I'm real," “Livin' It Up," “Always on Time", as well as "Down as a Chick"). The album also featured hardcore rappers.
