Jason Momoa

 Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa, was born in Honolulu on August 1, 1979. Coni Momoa (a photographer) and Joseph Momoa (a painter) are his parents. His father is Native Hawaiian and Samoan, while his mother is Iowan and is of German, Irish and Native American descent. Jason was raised in Norwalk, Iowa, by his mother. After high school, Jason relocated to Hawaii and was able to land an acting role as the lead the competition of thousands of hopefuls for the TV show Baywatch (1989) (known as "Baywatch Hawaii" in its 10th season). The show was cancelled, and he spent the following two years traveling the world. In 2001, he relocating to Los Angeles, where he continued to pursue a acting career. Following the TV series North Shore (2004) ended, he was selected in 2004 to play Ronon Dex, the star of Stargate: Atlantis (2004). The series earned an ardent fan base. He was the Dothraki King Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones (2011) which was an Emmy-nominated HBO series. He performed the Haka dance, the traditional Maori war dance to show producers that Khaldrugo was the character he played. The audition was directed by the casting director who also served as the casting of Conan the Barbarian (2011).
