Jose Romulo Sosa Ortiz (17 February 1948 from 17 February 1948 to 28 September 2019,), known professionally as Jose Jose, was a Mexican actor and singer. Jose was born in a musical family. He began his musical career when he was a teenager, singing and playing guitar in a serenade. He then joined an jazz and bossa-nova trio , where he sang and played double and bass bass.Jose Jose was a hit as a solo artist in the beginning of the 1970s. Showing off his tenor vocal talent by a spectacular performance of the song "El Triste" at the Latin music festival held in Mexico City in 1970, his name was a prominent figure on the Latin charts throughout the decade. Having achieved recognition as a balladeer, his singing garnered universal critical acclaim from musical peers as well as the media.In the 1980s after joining Ariola Records, Jose rose to international fame as one of the most well-known and skilled Latin singers. The album he released in 1983 Secretos was a massive success, selling over 25 million copies. With a variety of world-wide hits, he has received numerous Grammy nominations and international recognition. In places like Madison Square Garden or Radio City Music Hall the venue sold out. His music was heard in non-Spanish-speaking nations like Japan, Israel and Russia.
