Tulsi Gabbard was born April 12 in 1981. She is an American politician and United States Army Reserve officer. Gabbard was the first Hindu member of Congress and was also the first American Samoan to vote of Congress. She ran for the Democratic nomination for the 2020 United States presidential election,[2][3] prior to quitting the party and becoming an independent candidate in October 2022. In 2002, Gabbard was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives at the age of 21. 4 Gabbard was a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard's field medical unit. She was deployed to Iraq during 2004-2005. Between 2005 and 2006, she was stationed in Kuwait as an Army Military Police platoon commander. As she was a member of Congress Gabbard was a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) from 2013 to 2016. She resigned in order to support Bernie Sanders' campaign for the 2016 Democratic nomination for president.
