Karen Gillan

 Karen Sheila Gillan was born and raised in Inverness, Scotland, as the only daughter of Marie Paterson and husband John Gillan, who is a musician and recording artist. She discovered a passion for acting from a young age and was a part of several theater groups and participating in numerous performances at her school called Charleston Academy.At 16 years old, Karen decided she wanted to pursue her acting career further and, studied under the famous director of theatre Scott Johnston at the Performing Arts Studio Scotland. Later, she was accepted into the famous Italia Conti Academy in London. She was cast in Rebus (2000) her debut year. Later, she appeared on several shows on Channel 4, including Stacked (2008), The Kevin Bishop Show (2008), and a two-year stint with the long-running Doctor Who (2005). Karen stars alongside James Nesbitt in Outcast (2010). Her most recent starring role is that of Eliza Dooley on the situation comedy Selfie (2014).
