Kevin Michael Costner is an American actor, director, and singer, renowned for his impressive portrayal of rugged characters that have complex emotions. He was the son of middle-class parents. While he attended numerous schools to finish his studies, he wasn't drawn to the academics. He was more interested in arts and sports like playing piano and writing poems. Kevin Costner, who graduated from Fullerton's business school, began a career in marketing despite his desire to pursue acting. After an accidental meeting with actor Richard Burton, who encouraged him to pursue acting as a career, Costner started taking acting lessons and took up different jobs to provide for his family. After performing in minor cameo parts in his early films, he starred in the 1987 movie The Untouchables which proved to be the turning point in his career. It was followed by breakthrough performances in films such as No Way Out, Bull Durham and Field of Dreams that solidified his status as a star actor. He made his mark later as a great producer and director with Dances with Wolves, his epic Western war movie. It was awarded the Academy Award in Best Picture and also the Academy Award to Best Director.
