Although most well-known for her role as Isabella "Bella" Swan in The Twilight (2008) Saga, Kristen Stewart has been a working actor from the beginning of her time in Los Angeles, California. Her parents, John Stewart and Jules Stewart are both actors in film and television. The family comprises three boys Kristen's older brother Cameron Stewart and two adopted brothers Dana and Taylor. Kristen is English, Scottish and Ashkenazi Jewish. Her first appearance in a television show when she was just eight years old, after an auditioner saw her performance in a grade school production. Her first role was in The Safety of Objects (2001) as Sam Jennings. Shortly after she was given the role of Sam Jennings in the film The Safety of Objects (2001). She was nominated to an award called a Young Artist Award for her performance in Panic Room. Although the film didn't make it to the top of the box office, she received another nomination for an Young Artist Award. After appearing in a variety of films as well as the Showtime film called Speak (2004), Stewart was chosen to play the part of a teen singer in a commune in Sean Penn's Into the Wild (2007), a critically acclaimed biopic. This role was nominated for an Young Artist Award, and Stewart was awarded the award. In the same year she was also in Mary Stuart Masterson’s The Cake Eaters (2007).
