Kevin Jerome Gilyard, popularly called his stage name Kevin Gates, is an American musician, rapper and entrepreneur. He is most well-known for his smash studio album, 'Islah, which came out in 2016. He is also well-known for his mixtapes, which include "Stranger Than Fiction" and "By any Means. With a string of hit singles and mixtapes over the course of his career, he is able to be regarded as one of America's successful contemporary artists. Gates was born in 2005 and began his career in 2005 following signing with Dead Game Records, a local label, grew in fame in the latter half of 2000s with the rappers Webster Gradney, known popularly as Webbie, as well as Torrence Hatch, a popular rapper as Boosie Badazz. In 2007, the trio released their first mixtape "Pack of Da Litter". They released their first mixtape, 'Pack of Da Litter' in 2007. Gates is well-known for the autobiographical themes he uses in his songs. After the release of his debut studio album, "Islah", he became a hugely popular artist.
