Lacey Nicole Chabert was born in Purvis, Mississippi, to Julie (Johnson) and Tony Chabert as a representative for an oil firm. She has Cajun, French, Italian, English, Scottish and English heritage. Chabert began her career in drama and musical performance in her hometown of Mississippi from a young age. She also made it to the finals in Star Search (1983), 1991. She made her debut in a cough syrup commercial, before successfully auditioning for the Broadway production of Les Miserables, where she was the young Cosette for two years. Since then, she has been featured in a handful of television shows, including Party of Five (1994), a number of films on telefilms like Gypsy (1993), and her big-screen debut, Lost in Space (1998). Known for her natural acting abilities and warm personality, her cotton candy voice has helped her make a number of commercial jingles and also appear in animated films and television shows like Nickelodeon's The Wild Thornberrys (1998).
