Clifford Smith Jr. [1] was born March 2, 1971. Method Man is an American artist and rapper. He is known as a part of the East Coast hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He also is a member of the hip-hop duo Method Man & Redman. He took his stage name from the film Method Man. In 1996, Smith won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Have to Make It Through", featuring American R&B artist Mary J. Blige, whom he's currently performing with in Power Book II: Ghost which is a spin-off from its original show. Power.Smith has been featured in movies including 187 (1997), Belly (1998), How High (2001), Garden State (2004), The Wackness (2008), Venom (2005), Red Tails (2012), Keanu (2016) and The Cobbler (2014). He co-starred alongside Redman, a frequent collaborator who hails from the East Coast, on the Fox sitcom Method & Red. He also played in three HBO shows as a regular role: Melvin "Cheese” Wagstaff in The Wire and Tug Daniels on Oz. 4 Method Man is also featured in The Last O.G., which is a TBS comedy.
