Mike Murphy

 Michael James Murphy (born 20 October 1941) is an Irish broadcaster, actor , and property developer. Murphy is most well-known for his broadcasting work as a member of RTE. He presented many television shows, including The Live Mike, Winning Streak, as well as The Big Interview. Murphy was born in Dublin 20 October 1941. He was the eldest of five children born to Ned Murphy and Kitty Murphy. He was a student at St. Louis National School and Terenure College. He also attended Colaiste Mhuire, Synge Street CBS, Synge Street CBS, and Colaiste Mhuire. Murphy worked as a draper at an Dublin drapery shop before he was offered a job with Castrol Oil Company. He later became involved in the acting of the Dublin Shakespeare Society and wrote scripts for the sponsored programs for Radio Eireann. He then joined the Brendan Smith Academy of Acting in Dublin where his acting brought him all over Europe. He was also a participant in The Girl with Green Eyes which was the film adaptation of the novel written by Tom McGrath which brought Mike Murphy to RTE. Murphy began his career in broadcasting in the year 1965 as an announcer for RTE Radio. By 1968 he had established his name as an announcer as well as a radio presenter. The Go-Two Show was his first TV show. Later, he became an announcer on Jackpot. He was hired by RTE's newsroom in the year 1969 as a sports announcer.
