Mike Murphy

 Michael James Murphy (born 20 October 1941) is an Irish broadcaster and actor as well as a property developer. He is best known for his lengthy broadcasting career at RTE as he hosted numerous television shows, including The Live Mike, Winning Streak and The Big Interview.Murphy was born in Dublin on the 20th of October, 1941. He was the youngest of five children born to Ned Murphy and Kitty Murphy. He attended St. Louis National School and Terenure College. He also studied at Colaiste Mhuire, Synge Street CBS, Synge Street CBS, and Colaiste Mhuire. Murphy worked as a draper at a Dublin drapery shop prior to when the opportunity came up to work with the Castrol Oil Company. Later, he was involved in acting for the Dublin Shakespeare Society and wrote scripts for sponsored shows on Radio Eireann. He was later a part of the Brendan Smith Academy of Acting in Dublin where his acting took him all over Europe. He was also a part of The Girl with Green Eyes which was the film adaptation of Tom McGrath's novel that brought Mike Murphy to RTE. Murphy started his broadcasting career in 1965 as an announcer at RTE Radio. By 1968 he had established his reputation as an announcer as well as a radio host. He then began presenting on television, starting with one series of a pop show known as The Go-Two Show, and acting as an announcer for the game show Jackpot. [3] In 1969 He joined the newsroom of RTE as an announcer for sports.
