Mira Sorvino

 Mira Katherine Sorvino was born on September 28, 1967, in Manhattan. She is the daughter of Lorraine Davis, an actress turned drama therapist, and veteran character actor Paul Sorvino. Her father's family were Italian immigrants. Sorvino was a young Sorvino was intelligent as well as a voracious reader and an outstanding scholar. Since her father was aware of the struggles of young actors who are unable to perform, he dissuaded her from acting. Harvard she attended, majoring Chinese. She earned her from magna cum felicite in 1989, mostly due to her thesis, an Hoopes Prize-winning thesis on the racial tensions and China. This dissertation was written during her time in Beijing and was a great help in learning Mandarin Chinese.
