Sherry M. Thomas (born 1975) is an American writer of young adult fantasy, historical romance, and contemporary romance. Many awards have been received by Thomas, including the Romance Writers of America RITA Award in 2010 for the best Historical Romance for not Quite a Husband and His at Night in 2011. The majority of best-of-romance lists include the one of her titles.In an article in The New York Times, romance writer Sarah MacLean stated Thomas is well-known for her "lush style,"[3as well as in USA Today romance author Madeline Hunter claimed that she was "critically acclaimed as one of the historical romance's best writers.A native of China, Thomas emigrated to the United States at thirteen and began to study English reading romance novels. Her first novel was published in 2008, an English-set Victorian romances. Later, in 2013, she branched into young adult fantasy. She published a collection of novels set that was set in Imperial China in 2014, that was a departure from historical settings. Common themes in her work include love that isn't reciprocated, unrequited love betrayal, and fate.
