Neil Flynn

 Flynn was born on the south side of Chicago. Flynn is of Irish origin and was raised Catholic. He relocated to Waukegan, Illinois at an early age. In 1978, while a Waukegan East High school student He and his friend Mike Shklair won the Illinois Individual Events state championship in "Humorous Duet Acting". After graduating from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 1982, Flynn returned to Chicago to pursue a career as an actor. Flynn was a member of the Bradley University Speech Team, which is a nationally-recognized group. He also acted in Chicago's Steppenwolf as well as Goodman Theaters. Flynn was nominated to receive a Joseph Jefferson Award ("Actor in an Principal Role" for The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, 1986). He also appeared at the Improv Olympics and the Second City Comedy Troupe.Flynn originally auditioned for the role as Dr. Cox in the popular series Scrubs, but was given the role as Janitor instead. He was initially only part of the pilot episode. However, he became so popular that he played an ongoing character, Janitor, who spends most of his energy on the character of Dr. John "J.D." Dorian. His character as an Chicago Transit Authority officer in The Fugitive was also used as a subplot within the Scrubs episode "My Friend the Doctor" where J.D. Flynn is seen in the film. Flynn believes Flynn's Janitor role is the real actor.
