Pam Grier

 Pamela Suzette Grier (also known as Pam Grier) is an American actress from the United States. She became famous through her appearances in various blaxploitation movies, including The Big Bird Cage,"Coffy," "Foxy Brown,' and 'Sheba Babe. She was criticized for her roles in blaxploitation and made a comeback in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Jackie Brown’ in which she was awarded the Golden Globe nomination. Pam Grier was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and due to her father's army career, her family relocated frequently throughout her childhood. They eventually settled in Denver. She attended East High School, and she aspired to become an MD. She appeared in a variety of stage productions and participated in beauty contests to raise funds for her college tuition. Other than 'Jackie brown', Grier has given a several mainstream blockbusters, such as 'Fort Apache, The Bronx' and "Above the Law". She has never been married, and has been intimately involved with the basketball star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as well as comedian Richard Pryor. Pam Grier received her Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and received an honorary Doctorate of Science from Langston University.c
