Actress and activist Shailene Woodley was born in Simi Valley in California She was the daughter of Lori (Victor), a middle school counselor, and Lonnie Woodley as a school's director. Tanner is her older brother. She was educated at Simi Valley High School in California. When Woodley was four years old she started commercial modeling. She began playing roles in acting and made her screen debut in Replacing Dad (1999). The District (2000) and The O.C. (2003) followed in her subsequent roles. (2003) and Crossing Jordan (2001),amongst others. Woodley was just 15 when she was diagnosed as having Idiopathic Scoliosis. She was fitted with the brace between her chest and hips for two years. In 2008, Woodley was the lead character in The Secret Life of the American Teenager (2008). In 2011, Woodley made her big screen debut in Alexander Payne’s The Descendants (2011) opposite George Clooney. Her performance in the role of Alexandra King brought critical acclaim and recognition from the movie industry. She was nominated for an award such as a Golden Globe, an Independent Spirit Award and also the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Breakthrough Performance Award.
