Sofia Margarita Vergara Vergara was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia. Margarita Vergara davila de vergara is her mother and housewife. Her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo offers cattle to the meat industry. There are five of her siblings. She went to a private bilingual school that taught Spanish and English. After graduation from high school she continued to study predentistry. However, Sofia was discovered by an amateur photographer while at the beach. it led to a variety of jobs in modeling and television. She was runway models at 23 years old. From 1995 until 1998, she co-hosted an international travel show, Fuera de serie (1995), which gave her exposure in the United States. Her first film role came in the 2002 crime drama Big Trouble. Her first big break came in the role of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the American TV show Modern Family (2009). In 2010-2013, she received four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for this role. Sofia lives in Los Angeles with Manolo, her son.
