 Sofia Margarita Vergara Vergara Vergara was born in Barranquilla (Colombia). Margarita Vergara davila de Vergara is her mother and housewife. Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo is her father. He raises cattle for the meat industry. The youngest of her five siblings. She was a student at a private bilingual school in Spanish/English. She then pursued a pre-dentistry degree. Sofia was found by a photographer while she was on the beach, and this led her to numerous jobs in television and modeling. She was a runway model at the age of 23. She was host of Fuera de serie (1995) an international travel show which brought her fame in the United States. Her first film role was the criminal comedy Big Trouble (2002). Gloria DelgadoPritchett became her breakout role in American TV's Modern Family (2009). In the period 2010-2013, she earned four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in an Comedy Series for this role. Sofia lives in Los Angeles with Manolo, her son.
