American comedian, actor and voice-over artist, as well as entertainer, and writer Tim Allen. After years of struggle as a stand-up comic in Los Angeles, and appearing in commercials for small-time TV and cable programs, Allen finally got his breakthrough with ABC's sitcom "Home Improvement." The show ran for eight years and launched Allen's career as an actor. It established Allen as an actor as well as comedian in Hollywood. He was offered roles in films such as "Galaxy Quest" and "The Santa Clause". Allen also voiced 'Buzz lightyear in the 'Toy Story' film series. Prior to becoming an actor Allen's life was not easy. His father passed away when he was just 11 and he drank with illegal drugs in order to earn easy cash. He was found guilty of possessing cocaine and was sentenced to 28 months in prison.
