Tulsi Gabbard

 Tulsi Gabbard served as the Hawaii 2nd Congressional District representative between 2013 and 2021. She was the first American Samoan Congresswoman, and the first Hindu-practicing member in Congress. In February 2019 she announced her candidacy to run for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States, the first female combat veteran to run for U.S. president. On March 19 2020, she canceled her presidential campaign. Her birthplace was Leloaloa (American Samoa) on April 12 1981. She holds a B.S.B.A. in business administration from Hawaii Pacific University in 2009. Gabbard's father Mike Gabbard is a member of Hawaii State Senate. Gabbard was elected District 42 of West Oahu from 2006 to 2004. In 2003, Gabbard enlisted in the Hawaii Army National Guard, finishing her basic training in between the legislative sessions.
