Her father, who was her biological father, passed away from an overdose of a drug when she was just two years old. Ferlito was raised in her home by her stepfather and her mother. In the early 1990s Ferlito began her career in the entertainment industry. She had already expressed an interest in acting early in her life. Prior to becoming an actress she was a model. A highly talented and charismatic personality, Ferlito received an Image Award nomination for her performance in the 2003 TV film 'Undefeated'. She is a single mother of a son.
